Description
The head is large and has 4 sponge-like bony horns on the top, a big meaty mouth and with wide body that narrows towards the back. It has 2 back fins, where the furthest back is the largest. Along the side line they have rows of irregular pearls like growths made of bone. The ends of the fins are sharp.
Color
Gray or olive brown with a white abdominal.
Average size
20-30 cm / 600 g, the female is somewhat larger than the male.
Age
About 14 years old
Record size
35 cm / 750 g.
