The Otter has a long and slim body with a short neck and a broad face. It has short legs and a long muscular tail. It is well adapted for a life in water, with webbed toes, water repellent fur and nostrils that close while diving. It can stay under water for up to 5 min. The Otter is mostly a nocturnal animal, but can be active during the day in areas where it is not disturbed. For most part they are a quite animal, but can make whistling, barking and snuffling sound.
